The Dawn Dinning Room

This attractive mustard-yellowed room represents the integration between Western and Thai culture towards art, which developed in our society together with other Western sciences like engineering, architecture or fine arts. Thai artist achieved Western techniques to create our own styles. In the room a portrait of H.M. King Chulalongkorn has been installed. There are also a chandelier built in the age of King Louise XV in the last 19th Century that brings the audience back to that past time and a painting drawn by Hem Wechakorn which manifests the use of Western techniques in Thai art. Moreover, the story of Professor Corrado Feroci or Achan Silp Pheerasri who brought the “Academy of Fine Art” from Florence, Italy into Thailand, which originated School of Fine Art and Silpakorn University later. Achan Silp’s sculptures are shown here. The works of his contemporary artists and his students who are counted as the first generation of Thai modern art: Sompot Upa-in, Chalerm Nakeruksa, Chalood Nimsamer, Chuang Moolpinit, Prapan Srisuta, Angkarn Kalayanapongse, Inson Wongsam, Chang Tang and Prakit Buabusaya are shown in this room, as well.
