It’s been a while since we last shared the story behind the creation of Kunawong House Museum. Today, we bring you a tale from Mr. Sermkhun Kunawong, the founder of the Kunawong House Museum, about the first piece in his collection. What was the first artwork he collected? Where did it all begin? If you have anything you’d like Mr. Sermkhun to share, feel free to leave a comment, and we’ll cover it in future episodes!
🎨”My first collected work, like many others, began during a trip abroad. I visited The British Museum and was deeply impressed by a sculpture by Polish artist Igor Mitoraj. I then headed to the Museum Shop, hoping to find a book about the artist. Luckily, they had one priced at around 20,000 THB, and to my surprise, it came with a limited edition sculpture by the artist himself titled ‘Light of the Moon.’ This was the beginning of my art collection journey.“
🏡Kunawong House Museum is located at:
33 Soi Lat Phrao 54, Lat Phrao Road, Wang Thonglang, Bangkok 10310
